How this knowledge base works
We're often asked where our information comes from. This page explains how we write articles, which sources we use, how we validate prices and why you'll find no quote form here. Transparency about method is the main thing that separates an editorial site from a lead-generator.
Sources we use
For regulation we draw on the Dutch Building Decree (Bouwbesluit 2012, succeeded by the Besluit bouwwerken leefomgeving in 2024), the Omgevingswet, the Civil Code (neighbour rights), municipal aesthetics policies and zoning plans. For prices we use the CBS construction-price index plus our own quote sample. For material knowledge we consult manufacturer documentation (Deceuninck, Schüco, Velux), KOMO certification and publications by Vereniging Eigen Huis.
How an article comes together
Each article begins with keyword research: which questions do people actually ask about this topic? We then collect public sources, cross-check figures in at least two independent documents and write the piece in plain language. For installation and material articles we get feedback from an installer or roofer. After publication the article goes into the editorial calendar for annual review.
What you won't find here
No quote forms, no comparison tool that forwards your data, no ranking of 'best dormer companies', no hidden affiliate links. We name brands only where informative, never as a recommendation. To request quotes, find three local specialists yourself (see 'Choosing a dormer company, checklist').

- Yes, with attribution (a link to the specific page) and without modifying the text. Companies may not copy articles wholesale or republish them as their own.
